There hasn't been a newly made Super-8 projector since the 1980s. Last year Classic Home Cinema in the UK tried to get a Japanese manufacturer to make a limited run of new machines, but not enough people were willing to pay $3,000 to make it happen. (really nice machine too....)

Why is this, doesn't anybody want Super-8 projectors? Yes we do, but with all the good quality used machines out there a new machine just isn't competitive.

I bought two sound machines last year that operate just fine for $100(Eumig 810) and $150 (Elmo ST-800).

The nice thing about Super-8 projectors is that many of them were bought like fitness equipment: people bought them with the intent to use them but rapidly lost interest and they wind up in storage with hardly any wear.

-So if you're careful then buying used is OK.
